How to Check the Status of a Permit/Application
Ministerial Permits (Permits starting with ZC, AD, CH)
The Planning Division will automatically email you at certain steps in the permit process from plan.counter@ventura.org. You will receive automated email updates when:
- Fees have been charged for the permit.
- There is a correction notice (the application is missing something).
- The permit is approved and needs your signature.
If you would like to check the status of your permit application, check out the County’s permit portal, “Citizen Access” at vcca.ventura.org:
- Log in to existing account or create a free account here.
- Select “My records” at the top of the page.
If your permit is not showing up, follow the below steps:
- Log in to existing account or create a free account here.
- Select “Planning” at the top of the page.
- Scroll down to General Search, “Record Number” and type your permit number (Example: ZC20-0000).
- Select “Search” and choose your permit.
Planning staff can connect your permit to your account if your permit does not show up. Contact plan.counter@ventura.org or (805) 654-2488 with the permit number and your full name so that staff can connect the permit to your “Citizen Access” account.
Discretionary Permits (Conditional Use Permits and Planned Development Permits)
