VENTURA, Calif. – Just over 100 days after the Mountain Fire began, the Ventura County Environmental Health Division and the Mountain Fire Incident Management Team are pleased to report substantial progress in recovery efforts. A total of 100 properties have completed debris removal and are now awaiting soil sampling and final inspection before receiving certification to rebuild. Of these, 30 properties have already undergone soil sampling, passed final inspection, and are officially certified to begin rebuilding. With recovery efforts moving forward, 98% of eligible properties are expected to be cleared by the end of the month, marking a major milestone in the recovery process.

“This milestone reflects the incredible effort and coordination between debris removal crews, Environmental Health staff, and contractors working at the Debris Removal Operations Center,” said Sean Debley, Environmental Health Technical Services Manager and Incident Manager for the Mountain Fire. “We are also grateful for the patience and collaboration of our property owners. Every cleared property is a step closer to rebuilding, and we are committed to supporting residents every step of the way.”

To help property owners stay informed, the Debris Removal Dashboard on the Ventura County Recovers website provides real-time updates on the status of each property enrolled in the County-Led Debris Removal Program. Property owners can search by address to see their property’s progress — from initial site assessments to final certification — using the dashboard’s interactive map and legend.
