VENTURA, Calif. – In honor of the 45th annual Building Safety Month, the Resource Management Agency’s Building & Safety Division will host an Open House on Thursday, May 8 from 2pm to 4pm at the Ventura County Government Center’s Hall of Administration in the Multipurpose Room, located on the 3rd floor. This event will provide the public with an opportunity to meet the County’s Building and Safety team, learn about the different trades involved in construction, and get more information about current job openings.
“Building and Safety Month serves as an important reminder that the safety of our buildings is the result of thoughtful planning, strong collaboration, and ongoing commitment,” said Ruben Barrera, Building and Safety Director. “Our inspectors, engineers, and permit technicians work closely with design professionals, builders, and contractors to ensure structures are designed, built, and maintained to meet rigorous safety standards. Homeowners and business owners also play a vital role by responsibly maintaining their properties. Building safety is a team effort, and together, that’s how we win.”
This year’s campaign addresses how building safety impacts everyone on a personal, local, and global level. In addition to the open house, the community is welcome to stop by Building & Safety’s public counter each week to learn more. The themes for each week are the following:
- Week 1: The Warm Up, May 1–3
- Week 2: Build Your Offense, May 4–10
- Week 3: Build Your Defense, May 11–17
- Week 4: The Starting Lineup, May 18–24
- Week 5: Going Into Overtime, May 25–31
Building Safety Month is a worldwide campaign presented by the ICC, its members, and partners to promote building safety. This year’s campaign, “Game On,” encourages people to get involved in all aspects of building safety. The campaign also makes the connection between building codes and our personal safety, as well as the important work done by building safety professionals in our communities.
