Permitting & Review

Step 3 - Permitting & Review

A key milestone in building your new home will be applying for and getting your building and associated permits. The best way to save time and money is to first work with your design professional to ensure your Submittal Packet is 100% complete.

For homeowners looking to rebuild, we’ve expedited the permitting process by no longer requiring a zoning clearance for fire rebuilds. This means that instead of starting with our Planning Division, you can now go directly to our Building & Safety Division to apply for a Building Permit.

Please note: You can begin the process by applying for a Building Permit through Building & Safety, provided your plans are ready.

Learn more about our new expedited permitting process, the newly established Mountain Fire Planning Rebuild Team, approved fee waivers for affected homeowners, and view our Mountain Fire Rebuilding Together FAQ Guide — all created to ensure a smooth and efficient rebuilding process.

Planning, Building and Safety, andEnvironmental Health Public Counter Staff are available to assist you at any phase of your project development. The Resource Management Agency public counters are open on a first come first serve basis.

  1. Work with your design professional to complete submittal packet.

  2. Select and hire a licensed contractor.

  3. Submit a building permit application with associated documents to Building & Safety. For submittal requirements, see our B01 and B02 Handouts. These materials can be submitted online through Citizen Access.
